Chief Executive Officer
As CEO of O’Brien Brothers, Evan oversees all aspects of the company, including operations, strategy, finance, and real estate development planning and execution.
Since joining the company in 2016, Evan has led a period of significant growth, including the launch of a new homebuilding division, permitting of a landmark 140-acre mixed-use project, development of Hillside East – Vermont’s first 100% carbon-free and climate-resilient community – and a successful negotiation with the Town of Shelburne, Vermont to upzone a greenfield site, increasing allowable density by 1,600% to enable a 375-unit residential community. Evan spent the previous eight years at ReArch Company, a Vermont based real estate development, construction and property management firm, where he served as Vice President of Development. Prior to ReArch, Evan was Director of Operations for Meridian Development Group, where he was involved in the development of the base villages of Mammoth Mountain ski resort and Northstar-at-Tahoe ski resort.
Evan was born and raised in Middlebury, Vermont, and graduated from Hamilton College in Clinton, New York. He has earned multiple certificates in real estate development and finance from the Harvard Business School’s executive education.
Evan contributes to his local community and the State of Vermont on a number of boards and commissions, including as Immediate Past Chair of the Vermont Futures Project, as Treasurer and Executive Committee Member of the Vermont Business Roundtable, and as a Director of Eastview at Middlebury. Past service includes board seats at EastRise Credit Union (formerly NEFCU), the Vermont Chamber of Commerce, and the Shelburne Craft School; as a representative at the Chittenden County Regional Planning Commission (CCRPC); and committee positions at the Chittenden County Metropolitan Planning Organization, and the Greater Burlington YMCA.
Evan lives in Charlotte, Vermont with his wife Elizabeth, daughter Louisa, and their two dogs. In his free time, Evan spends as much time as he can sailing on Lake Champlain in the summer and skiing the Green Mountains in the winter.
